This is a great opportunity to see the HERO Lodge up close while helping us get ready for the season ahead. \nVolunteers will help with a variety of projects\, including deep cleaning inside the lodge\, organizing old containers and storage bins\, sprucing up outdoor areas\, planting flowers\, and general cleanup around the property. Be prepared to get a little dirty as we work together to make the lodge beautiful inside and out. \nLight snacks\, refreshments\, and lunch will be provided. After the work is done\, you’re welcome to stay\, relax\, and gather around the fire if you’d like. \n🕘 Come anytime between 9:00 AM and sunset—you don’t need to stay all day. Veterans selected for this trip will enjoy a guided fishing experience\, fellowship with fellow veterans\, and a day focused on relaxation and community. \nThe trip includes: Lodging\, Meals and Fishing boat. No prior fishing experience is required\, if fishing gear is needed plus let the fishing coordinator know upon selection. \nFour (4) veterans will be selected by drawing on May 9\, 2026.\nTo ensure we are able to serve as many individuals as possible\, priority will be given to veterans who have not previously attended a HERO fishing trip. This event is designed for everyone. \nWhy We Ruck\nAt HERO\, we believe healing happens through connection\, time outdoors and shared experiences. This ruck is more than just a walk — it’s a way to stand along side those who have served and the families who support them. \nDistance Options\nCarry what feels right for you\, go at your own page and be part of a community that shows up for each other. \n\n1-Mile Easy Community Route\nA mostly flat route around the front property and pond area. Ideal for families\, youth participants\, first-time ruckers\, and anyone looking for a lighter experience while still being part of the event.\n3-Mile Moderate Ruck\nA moderately challenging route that includes varied terrain. Participants may encounter areas that encourage working together as a team\, helping one another navigate obstacles and elevation changes.\n5-Mile Moderate-to-Challenging Ruck (Optional)\nWill be an extension off the 3-Mile Ruck fro those looking to go further. Designed for participants seeking a more physically demanding experience. This route includes moderately challenging terrain\, with sections where teamwork\, communication\, and mutual support may be required.\n\nAll routes are non-competitive and self-paced.
