A Message from the President
“At English River Outfitters, we honor our veterans and their families by providing a place to heal, reconnect, and find strength together. Our vision is a future where every veteran and their loved ones thrive, with nature as their ally.
As I step into the role of President, I want to reaffirm my commitment to carrying forward the original vision of HERO’s founder, Chuck Geertz. When Chuck established English River Outfitters in May 2008—alongside his brother Cyle and Karen Fisher, a Gold Star wife—their mission was clear: to create a quiet, welcoming space where veterans and their families could find peace, camaraderie, and healing. They placed a special focus on serving disabled veterans, as well as Blue Star, Silver Star, and Gold Star families, ensuring no one was left behind.
That vision remains at the heart of who we are today. My promise is to honor their legacy by protecting what makes HERO so special, while also strengthening and expanding our programs so more veterans and families can experience the healing power of the outdoors. Together, we will continue building a future rooted in community, service, and resilience.” – Holly Phelps
